My name is Abigail Mercy Thompson. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Cape Coast Ghana, and a master’s degree in Educational Technology, from the University of Twente, The Netherlands. I am a researcher and have done various researches on ICT in Education and ICT for development. Currently I’m preparing to read PhD in ICT and Development with specialization in Educational Technology. I work for Culture, Education and Technology Network (CETNET) which is an affiliate of Governance, Culture and Development, University of Ghana, Legon. We Organised ICT training programs for traditonal governance, digitisation of traditional archives, promoting and preserving cultural heritage and traditional values by collecting, collating and preserving cultual data and insignia and recording cultural dances, music, educational materials and stories on DVD, VCD, CD, MCD,CD-ROM and VHS tapes.
I am very much interested in using FOSS in our work. Open Source is a new thing for me. I got to know about it about 4 years ago when FOSSFA was being established in Adis. Since I recognize the benefit of the Open Source I began to learn about it and advocate the use of FOSS in Ghana.
