Pearl Gardens
The venue is at Pearl Gardens Beach in Kalangala, Uganda (http://www.pearlgardensbeach.com/). It is a 6-acre beach resort located on Buggala Island in Lake Victoria along Lutoboka shore-line; 3 Kms north of Kalangala Town Council in Uganda (Ssese Islands - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ssese_Islands). It is situated in a tropical forest environment along the equator in the middle of the second largest fresh water lake in the world (Lake Victoria - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Victoria). It has a nice, ‘camp-style’ atmosphere helping Africa Source II to be a community building event - in the spirit of free and open source software.
Participants will be expected to contribute to activities and the running of the event. Participants will sleep in simple dormitory accommodations, have large group lunches and dinners, and have access to a range of training, plenary, discussion and relaxation areas. There are 10 portable wooden bandas, a 32-bedroom guest house with 10 self contained rooms, 4 self-contained family cottages of 3 beds each, 10 self contained executive cottages of 2 beds each, and camping tents of various sizes. The dormitory offers camp/hostel-like facilities complete with its own showers and toilets.
This is an on-site training within a closed community, participants will be expected to stay at the venue for the duration of the event. Accommodation will be provided dormitory style, please be prepared for sharing rooms and bathrooms with fellow participants.
